We will also need go through some questionnaires which help with diagnosis and understanding of your symptoms and trigger points, liaison with your GP to support treatment of ADHD with medication where appropriate, alongside other suggested treatments and, with your permission, discussion with family or other nominated individual to assess your symptoms in childhood.
As ADHD is an ongoing disorder, follow up consultations to monitor your progress and the efficacy of treatments, as well as liaison with your GP and other clinicians involved in your care will be needed. The frequency of follow up consultations will be agreed as part of your treatment plan so everything is clearly planned for you.
Symptoms of ADHD include difficulty paying attention or staying focused, being easily distracted, forgetful, restlessness, impulsivity, and difficulty completing tasks. These symptoms can vary widely and may be more pronounced in some individuals than in others.
The causes of ADHD are not fully understood, but research suggests that a combination of genetic, environmental, and developmental factors may contribute to the condition. Treatment for ADHD typically involves medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
Medications used to treat ADHD include stimulants which help increase the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, improving attention and reducing hyperactivity. Behavioral therapy may include cognitive-behavioral therapy, which can help individuals learn coping strategies to manage their symptoms, and lifestyle modifications, such as regular exercise, good sleep hygiene, and a healthy diet, can also help manage ADHD symptoms.
It is important to seek professional help if you are experiencing symptoms of ADHD. With proper diagnosis and treatment, individuals with ADHD can learn to manage their symptoms and lead successful, productive lives. Please note that currently we do not offer child/adolescent assessments but plan to in the near future.
